VIDNA OBMANA. – SOUNDTRACK FOR THE AQUARIUM (1993)

In 1992, while VIDNA OBMANA occasionally was part of Antwerp’s ritual band HYBRYDS, founder/leader SANDY NYS initiated a project to create a soundtrack for the Antwerp ZOO‘s aquarium, for the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the ZOO of Antwerpen. The idea was to recording two soundtracks (one by each VIDNA OBMANA and HYBRYDS), using the water draining and dolphin sounds, recorded at location. VIDNA OBMANA used the sounds unedited but just applied fade in and outs, and looped particular segments. No sampler was used. The Antwerp ZOO released a compilation from both soundtracks to sell at their booths. Later on the separate soundtracks were released. In 2001 American label HYPNOS released a two disc set, which included a live rendition. A fully remastered reissue was released on Polish ZOHARUM in 2019 as part of the reissue series of the most essential VIDNA OBMANA albums.
