EYE ON : VIDNA OBMANA – REVEALED BY COMPOSED NATURE (1990)
We missed out on its 25th anniversary last year but 26 years will do fine. This album was VIDNA’s first vinyl record, after a series of ambient works on cassette. REVEALED was still recorded on a porta 4 track cassette recorder and two synths (Korg MS20 and M1). While the audio world was slowly rapidly moving into the digital domain, we didn’t access to any digital recorded so thanks to Mark Burghgraeve (Somnambulist, etc.) who kindly enough mastered the album and put it on DAT (digital audio tape) for the pressing plant.
The pressing wasn’t flawless (we didn’t know better back then) but the LP was received well and became one of the favorite VIDNA OBMANA albums among listeners. Even beyond our knowledge was picked up by GODFLESH’s key members Justin K. Broadrick and Ben Green. Only to find out 15 years or so later when Justin K. Broadrick was so kind to remix his favorite tune ‘Out From The Garden Reminded’ as JESU & FINAL for the Chasing The Odyssee anthology vinyl box-set. Amazing how music travels. Alio Die’s reissued the album in an expanded version on his own Hic Sunt Leones in 1993 and its original version, fully remastered with new photography by Martina Verhoeven, on Zoharum 5 years ago.
